There are times when I really focus on something. And right now it’s… a Fleur song, but a bit unusual.
For a while, Andriy Basov played guitar in the band. That was the case when I first found out that he was the vocalist and founder of the Odessa band Legendary Plasticine Legs, and only then that he was the guitarist of Fleur. In 2019, LPN released an album (Love Conquers Hate), one of the tracks on which was the beloved “Be My Sense”. It seems to be one of the first songs that I fell in love with in Fleur. And in the sound of Basov, it has such a…certain, its own, cut.
In the original version, it sounds more tender. Tender. With certain notes of hope. Andriy gave it a more “rock” sound, while his vocals are complemented by Oli’s vocals, as if highlighting the heavier meaning. But the true version (which has been deposited in my memory) was the pure version “from Andriy”, where this very “..April will soon come..” is performed by his voice, adding some kind of…I would say despair. As if after it comes, something bad will happen.
There are songs that have two versions. And each one is about something different, although the lyrics are the same. And this is exactly the case. One version is about hope, the other is about lost hope.
The version itself is here.
I won’t add the text, because the triggermen will come running… but what’s original is that this version has Odessa roots 🙂
