Hey, my love, you left a bitter taste
I cried for help, and you just walked away
I can’t believe that we’ve become estranged
My angel, my angel, yeah

“And all the times you promised things would change
They always stayed the same
Stuck on you like a stain, oh

Try my best but it’s never enough
Walk on glass, rub salt in the cut
I try to put you back again
Glue’s gone dry and nothing sticks
I can’t look now so I reminisce
I try, I tried..”

This work was supposed to be created a month ago, but during this time a lot has happened, its content has changed and…maybe that’s why it appeared now?..

At one time I asked ChatGPT to make a list of derogatory words. The idea was that “no matter how you were treated as a child, you try to be a different person.” But it went into a plane when the next prompt was about “overcoming your fears”. In this form, I received a more specific list.

During this time, I actually managed to break up with the person I had lived with for the last 14 years. The very idea of building a new relationship is based on a bunch of fears that you face, because your last relationship was when you were 22, and now you are 36. And some kind of insecurity is always gnawing at you. You think that you are insufficient, you devalue yourself. And these fears follow you. So this work (which, for a moment, hangs above my monitor, and your eyes will still come across it) is about reminding yourself that… no matter what – you always have to try. Try to do something that previously seemed useless to you.

On the other hand, I perceive this work in relation to my relationship with a person. With some people, due to the peculiarities of our and their character, you have to choose your words carefully so as not to be misunderstood. And this is the same case when you are between “not saying something wrong” and “conveying the essence as much as possible according to your perception”. So you do this same “try” every time, bypassing sharp corners.

The complete creation of the work took about 2+ hours.

The work is based on the song Try by the band Yonaka.
