“Taking on the world alone
Never feeling lonely
Used to say I’m a stone
You didn’t even know me..”

I wanted to do this work since last fall. Honestly – I don’t remember if it was supposed to be dedicated to her then. But, so much time has passed. The world hasn’t changed, but we have changed a little.

In general, you have no idea how much people can change in a year or two. But do they change, does our perception change? That is, if we separate what is in our head (what we think about a person) and what is – we get two different people. And if one day you think that this work is about a person, then the next day you come to the idea that it is about you, and the infidelity of your perception.

The problem with this picture was in the stone. I could have carved a heart out of brick, but that’s not interesting, because brick is quite soft. And I didn’t like the way it looked. So I decided to use a regular rock with a relatively correct shape. It took me about half an hour to cut the necessary part (and almost injured my toe, oh…), but..

This is my first experience carving something out of stone. It’s a bit different than wood, and the only tools I used were an angle grinder with a diamond disc. There were a lot of sparks, but it did its job perfectly. As a perfectionist, I was relatively satisfied with the work because it always seemed like “it could be better..” – and maybe it could be, but not with those tools and not at 8 pm, when mosquitoes are already biting you.

The bandaged hand, by the way, is a reference to Osamu Dazai (a character in the anime Big Stray Dogs).
