Why is that? This is my promised story about how I took yesterday’s picture.

In general, the original picture looked like this:

I’m tired of trying to take a picture in one frame or in two frames at most (this is when the entire composition is built in such a way that you get the final result not by gluing it together, but immediately). Do you see those illuminated hands in the picture? Me too. And it was decided that it would be easier to darken them in the editor by highlighting the silhouette than to try to photograph them in one frame. Because the main question of this picture was who is this little gnome behind me holding a flashlight. The answer will surprise you, but I work without gnomes! (gnomes, no offense…). Get your kids away from screens, because…

The light holder was…my own ass! No, no. I haven’t trained my buttocks enough that their muscles can hold a flashlight (ah…how I wish!). I decided that these “leather-like” shorts would make a great holder for a flashlight, which would shine from behind, creating a dark silhouette.

The second element is… a colour flashlight. A regular, circus flashlight, the kind that people used to sell at the entrance to the circus when I was a kid. I bought a few of them from China, and I thought, “Why not?”

The third (actually, second) element I added to the shot was a candle. I needed a black background, so… I took a candle, placed it on a pill jar, placed another candle holder on top of it, and then took the candle itself. I haven’t come up with anything darker than a laptop lid, so anything is fine for my creativity.

I, again, carved this wonderful candle myself in the Gimp photo editor (yes, I love free photo editors). Finishing the composition. All this gave this result:

Am I satisfied with this work? Let’s put it this way. I rate it much higher than people on various platforms have rated it. I invested an idea, thoughts, and time into it. And I’m completely satisfied. What went wrong during creation?

The candle gave too bright light to the object (me). This is one of the rather successful shots. I like it as a separate work. But it was not possible to do exactly what I wanted, because… you need at least one more person who will control all the lighting in the frame. That is, they will illuminate the necessary areas with mini-flashlights, creating a silhouette. Exactly the one that is needed. And I do everything myself, so certain things remain inaccessible to me. And yet, I am satisfied with what I did.

As a bonus, I got a gorgeous red hand. It takes a little bit of makeup to remove, but that’s the price you pay for creativity. Why is my hand red?

The idea was that in the original picture, blood was supposed to drip from the hand and fall onto the cross. Thanks to my “special blood” (made from sex lube and paint), it was supposed to flow like slime. That is, from the hand to the cross and from the cross. But…as always, it didn’t turn out the way I wanted.
